SWONKDOG wants everyone to be able to read and use this website, whatever device, assistive technology or settings they use. This statement covers swonkdog.co. The partner portal, the online intake and the patient portal at app.swonkdog.co are a separate product with their own ongoing work.
The standard we work to
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 at Level AA, the standard commonly used for the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 508. We test against it as we build, with automated tools and keyboard checks. An independent audit by a specialist has not yet been done, so we do not claim full conformance; we claim that we are working toward it and fixing what we find.
What is in place
- Every page works with a keyboard alone: links, buttons, the menu, the questions and the forms, with a visible focus ring and a "Skip to content" link as the first stop.
- Headings, landmarks, lists and form labels are marked up so screen readers can navigate by structure, and form errors are announced.
- Text and background colours meet the contrast ratio the standard asks for, and the site never relies on colour alone.
- Text can be enlarged to at least 200% in the browser without losing content or function, and the layout adapts to phones, tablets and desktops.
- The small amount of motion on the site switches off when a device asks for reduced motion.
- Pictures carry text descriptions, or are marked as decorative when they add nothing a reader needs.
Accessibility options
The round button in the bottom corner of every page opens the accessibility options: larger text, high contrast, reduced motion, a dyslexia-friendly font, more text spacing, highlighted links, a large focus ring, a reading guide, a big cursor and read aloud. Read aloud uses the voices already on your device; where a browser offers only a voice that works over the internet, the text of what is read is sent to that browser maker to be spoken. Your choices are saved in your own browser only and are never sent to us. These options help; they do not replace the settings in your browser or operating system, which also work on this site.
Known limitations
- The pictures of the partner and patient portals are images. Each has a text description of what it shows, but the words inside the pictures cannot be read by a screen reader.
- The report form opens your email app rather than sending from the page; if you have no email app set up, write to the address below instead.
